Job509 Celebrates One Year of Helping People Find Jobs in Haiti
The Port-Au-Prince based web startup helps companies find qualified employees to work in Haiti and makes it easier for jobseekers to find a job in Haiti.

Exactly a year ago, two young Haitian entrepreneurs launched Job509.com: a website that lists available jobs in Haiti. Today, Job509 celebrates their one-year anniversary and has a lot to be proud of. The company has already helped hundreds of Haitians find jobs across the country. “Our numbers are impressive. Every day this year, we’ve helped people find jobs in Haiti and we keep growing at a solid pace” says Cedric Brandt, the company’s young CEO.
In the last year, more than thirty thousand Haitians have created resumes on Job509.com. Every month, two to three thousand resumes are added to its database. In a country with low Internet penetration, these are impressive numbers. “I think we can proudly say that we are the first web startup in Haiti to achieve these kind of numbers” says Mr. Brandt.
Job509’s platform was designed to make it easy for jobseekers to search ideal job offers through its database. The analytics engine helps Job509 match job seekers with the job openings that would best fit their competences and experience levels. No other such database of job seekers with this level of technology exists in Haiti. Job509’s unique system allows them to quickly search through a massive amount of data giving it an edge over its competitors. Mr. Brandt explains: “We can help companies fulfill positions much faster than anyone else. In some cases, we’ve helped a company find an employee in just one day, and they’ve called us three months later to tell us that it was the perfect fit for them.”
Last month, the Job509 team took on a new challenge by launching its first series of vocational training classes in Haiti. “We’ve noticed a need for good professional training in Haiti. We are already doing a good job of matching companies with job seekers. Now we want to educate and empower the workforce in Haiti” says the CEO. For the event, Job509 flew Didier Reinach, an expert in marketing and leadership, to Haiti. During three days, Mr. Reinach taught classes focused on sales and customer service to close to three hundred participants. “The response was fantastic. We’ve received great feedback from the attendees” says Mr. Brandt. For the coming year, their goal is to bring an expert in Haiti every other month, who will teach classes,
hold seminars, or oversee events that will help Haitian professionals grow and learn.
