Joint EMC and Riverbed Proof of Concept Combines EMC's Symmetrix VMAX and VPLEX With Riverbed Granite
Advanced

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/17/12 -- Today, Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the performance company, announced its participation at EMC World 2012 from May 21-24 at The Venetian in Las Vegas. EMC World brings together IT professionals who are responsible for designing, building, and operating advanced IT environments. Both Riverbed® (booth# 837) and EMC (booth# 237) will showcase a joint proof of concept comprised of EMC storage solutions with Riverbed Granite™ that demonstrates a next-generation storage architecture for globally distributed enterprises looking to achieve the highest levels of consolidation. Granite makes it possible to move any data on a server to a secure, centralized location while maintaining high performance access just as if the data was stored locally. In addition, Riverbed representatives will discuss performance as the critical factor for successful backup and replication, and storage solutions in the cloud.

Conference attendees can visit the Riverbed and EMC booths to see a next-generation storage architecture proof of concept (POC) that solves the problem of distance by connecting the data center and remote offices. The POC combines EMC's Symmetrix VMAX and VPLEX with Riverbed Granite, and allows IT managers to consolidate and manage all edge applications, servers, and storage, centrally at the data center. The edge virtual server infrastructure (edge-VSI) supports the commitment to virtualization and consolidation of global IT infrastructure, while enabling the delivery of services to any remote office as if it were local. Granite and VMAX technology together provide robust data center storage for branch office data consolidation. VPLEX combined with Granite enables customers to leverage heterogeneous storage platforms, while also providing data center high-availability protection.

For additional information on the joint POC, download the solutions brief "Consolidation, Control and Availability for the Globally Distributed Enterprise" at www.riverbed.com/assets/media/documents/briefs/SolutionBrief-Riverbed-EMC_new.pdf.

"I have directed several data center consolidations due to mergers and acquisitions. My strategy for each initiative is to maximize investments by leveraging data center and remote office infrastructure, and focus on improving performance," said John Iraci, vice president of Enterprise Infrastructure at DJO Global. "We use EMC's VNX storage platform, and ideally, I want the ability to 'vacuum up' servers located at remote offices into the data center to control them, and then optimize the WAN connection. The direction and premise that Riverbed delivers with Granite is simple: if my WAN is interrupted, then my remote sites can continue to operate. Granite with EMC VMAX and VPLEX provides the ultimate platform for consolidation, and ensures high-availability should the data center fail."
