VSM: Looking ahead – any idea what your prediction might be for 2013?
AP: Increased application sprawl, security vulnerabilities, high exposure downtimes and general IT inefficiencies are all going to be headlined at some point in 2013. These are all areas that can never be overlooked and require perpetual tweaking. A less obvious issue revolves around my concern over the confusion taking place in the market thanks to “markitecture”. In the absence of clear standards, the “markitecture” peddler mentality seems to be producing a variety of reference architectures and disparate tools that are popping up on every announcement on the Web. For the customer’s sake, I hope for and foresee a consolidation of reference architectures and common APIs driven, at a higher control layer, that become useful to decision makers, and more appropriate to differentiated workloads and differentiated service level expectations.
