Quick response codes (QR codes) are a useful tool used for many purposes: to direct traffic to a website, link users to a YouTube Video, Facebook or LinkedIn profile, provide contact details, and much more. QR codes are also a very valuable tool for mobile marketing campaigns. Because mobile marketing operates solely on an opt-in basis marketers are always looking for easy ways to advertise and increase opt-ins. Most mobile marketing campaigns are used for sending a group text message to advertise or promote a product or service.
A QR code is similar to a bar code but instead of using only vertical black lines on a white background, QR codes make use of a variety of sizes of black boxes on a white background. Similar to a bar code, a QR code has to be read by a scanner. There are many free QR code scanner apps that are available on smartphones (iPhone, Droid, etc.). When the QR code scanner app is started, the phone’s camera is activated and the two work together to “read” the QR code and then carry out the function embedded into that specific QR code. This is perfect for SMS marketing because the user can scan the QR code and the text message fields will auto fill with the keyword and short code; all the user has to do is hit send.
TXT180 support manager Kasey C. said, “We have had numerous requests from customers wanting to use QR codes to help with their mobile marketing campaign. TXT180 is excited to have added this service to our platform as an additional tool for text message marketing promotions.” When the end user logs into his/her control panel they will now see a QR code icon; after clicking on the icon several options for creating a QR code will appear. Customers start by choosing the active keyword for which they would like to generate a QR code. Next, the customer can choose to create a QR code that redirects to a URL or link, adds contact information to a smartphone, or creates an SMS message to opt the customer into the specific keyword or group designated. There are four different sizes that the user can choose from for the graphic: small, medium, large, or extra-large. The user can preview and test the QR code before downloading it. After the download the customer can use it for print or online advertising.
TXT180 is excited to make this feature available to all of the TXT180 customers. QR codes are available for SMS white label reseller accounts as well and will work the same way for the reseller’s end users as they do for the TXT180 retail customers. QR codes are limited to users that have a smartphone or device with a QR code scanner so they should be used in conjunction with other advertising mediums for best results. The QR code generator is available now; customers can log-in to the control panel and start using it right away. Adding the QR code to current print advertising like business cards, table top tents, flyers, mailers, or any other advertising will provide a simple way for potential clients to opt-in or be directed to a website, immediately. Users can also add the QR code to a website, attach it to an email, or any other online medium in which an image can be attached.
The TXT180 support team is available to help or answer any questions about the new QR code generator or how QR codes work and can be integrated into a mobile marketing campaign. Customers can call, email, or check out the TXT180 blog for more information on the recently launched QR code generator.
