Energy Solutions Forum Joins the New York City Accelerator for a Clean and Renewable Economy
Energy Policy Data Startup to Support the Incubator's Ongoing Mission to Promote New York City's Clean Energy Economy
NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Energy Solutions Forum (ESF) today announced it has joined the New York City Accelerator for a Clean and Renewable Economy (NYC ACRE at NYU-Poly) as the newest tenant in the city-sponsored clean energy incubator.
The announcement comes after ESF – which provides U.S. energy policy research and data services to support investment decisions across the energy industry – was accepted into the NYC ACRE at NYU-Poly program, which promotes business growth in alternative energy and clean technology companies.
ESF moved its headquarters into the NYC ACRE incubator located in downtown Manhattan's vibrant Hudson Square neighborhood on September 4th, joining 11 other renewable energy and clean technology companies. The team expects to benefit greatly from the wealth of resources offered by NYC ACRE, including the strong community of energy entrepreneurs, access to partnerships and alliances with industry organizations, strategic business support, and the prestige and recognition of being a member of the highest regarded incubator in the growing New York City clean tech and energy sector.
"Joining the NYC ACRE community represents an incredible growth opportunity for ESF to flourish as a New York City-based energy policy data and cleanweb startup in this critical growth stage of our company," said Angelique Mercurio, founder of Energy Solutions Forum. "We're thrilled to join this incubator and its tenants in the collective mission of pushing New York's clean energy economy forward."
"We welcome Energy Solutions Forum to our community of 11 vibrant young companies in the NYC ACRE at NYU-Poly incubator," said Micah Kotch, NYC ACRE director and director of incubator initiatives at NYU-Poly. "We look forward to working with ESF as it joins the roster of NYC ACRE companies that have already raised $22.5 million in investment capital, created more than 100 new jobs in New York, and become anchors to a growing cluster of clean-tech and renewable energy businesses."
Jonathan McClelland, an energy economist with DG Energy Partners, a tenant company at ACRE welcomed the addition of Energy Solutions Forum. "I believe that Angelique and her team have an excellent product with a great deal of potential. This is a company to watch."
ESF was welcomed into NYC ACRE after presenting its case to a panel of select advisory board members, and meeting stringent admission requirements related to its flagship data product, EnerKnol, growing team, company financials and market analysis.
NYC ACRE is one of six cleantech-focused incubators around the state funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Now in their fourth year, NYC ACRE and the other incubators have worked with a total of 91 client companies and helped the companies raise nearly $70 million in private capital.
"It is companies like ESF that help develop the state's clean-energy economy through services that encourage investment in the energy industry," said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. "NYC ACRE's success in attracting new tenants like ESF shows how Governor Cuomo's commitment to innovation is driving economic development in New York State."
