To assist the public and MMJ professionals, MJ Freeway is sponsoring a free webinar, "Massachusetts MMJ: A Path to Implementation" held by Shaleen Title, Massachusetts attorney for Vicente Sederberg, LLC , and Scott Hawkins, senior project consultant for Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications, Inc, and Amy Poinsett, Co-founder and CEO, MJ Freeway.
Ms. Title will discuss the actual structure of the Massachusetts law and what is and is not included. Mr. Hawkins will cover the likely obstacles and opportunities that this law creates, as well as, a likely timeline for implementation.
Shaleen Title, Esq., is the Massachusetts attorney for Vicente Sederberg, LLC, the only national medical marijuana law firm. She was the 2010 recipient of the Hunter S. Thompson young attorney award and one of the 2012 recipients of the High Times Freedom Fighter award. She holds a graduate degree in accounting; she worked in the multistate tax group of Deloitte Tax analyzing and identifying tax opportunities and assisting in preparing tax compliance and reviewing tax provisions for complex multistate clients. Before joining Vicente Sederberg, she served as the speakers bureau director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition where she managed a global network of cops, judges, prosecutors, federal agents and corrections officials who support a legal and regulated model to control drugs. In 2012, she was a staffer for the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol which legalized marijuana in Colorado. She serves on the Boards of Directors for Students for Sensible Drug Policy and Marijuana Majority.
Scott Hawkins has spent his career focused on food and farming, communications, non-profit management, and strategic development issues. His Santa Cruz-based fresh produce buying brokerage and consulting firm, Hawkins Associates, was a primary contributor to the growth of organic produce industry during its formative stages in the 1980′s and 1990′s. He eventually sold the company to Whole Foods Market; it has since served as their National Buying Office in Watsonville, CA. During this period, he also ran Hawkins Transport, a coast-to-coast fresh produce trucking company. Following the sale, he worked as a strategy specialist and management consultant for a range of clients, primarily in the areas of the performing arts, non-profit governance, and agriculture-related marketing and executive transition. For the last ten years, Scott has addressed clients’ project management, marketing, media relations, and government affairs requirements, with a more recent focus on the issues surrounding medical cannabis regulation and licensing. Since 2011, he has been engaged as a Project Consultant with RaskyBairlein Strategic Communications, Inc., a nationally recognized public affairs firm with offices in Boston, MA and Washington, D.C.
This webinar is designed to answer questions for anyone interested in being involved in Massachusetts' new medical marijuana industry, including investors, dispensary operators, cultivators and caregivers.
