Corona Labs, creator of the award-winning Corona SDK, and Iddiction, a leading publisher, are pleased to announce Major Magnet’s iOS launch and its recognition as an Editors’ Choice on Apple’s App Store. The Editors’ Choice is the highest distinction available for iOS apps.
Created by PagodaWest Games, Major Magnet is a 2D “orbiting platformer” game available for iPhone and iPad. The lovable star of the game, Marv, is stripped of his hero’s cape by Colonel Lastin, an evil villain. The cape is hidden in Lastin’s magnetic facility and Marv’s mission is to retrieve his cape, and conquer Colonel Lastin by harvesting the power of his handy magnet.
Within days of release, Major Magnet has already secured its spot as a Top 5 paid app on the App Store, and is quickly climbing the charts. Built with Corona SDK, the award-winning cross-platform mobile development framework, Major Magnet joins the ranks of thousands of Corona-built blockbusters. From the popular The Lost City game, to the award-winning Freeze!, to the hit sensation, Bubble Ball, games developed with Corona SDK consistently top the charts in app markets worldwide.
“Major Magnet is one of the most amazing games we’ve seen yet on mobile. It’s a great example of the types of content built with Corona SDK,” says David Rangel, COO of Corona Labs. “Using Corona, the PagodaWest team developed a stunning mobile experience that can be easily deployed to multiple platforms.”
By partnering with Iddiction, a leading game publisher, Major Magnet leveraged the expertise of mobile veterans, and was able to optimize the game for a highly successful launch loaded with excellent reviews from top gaming sites.
“The ability to create a high quality mobile experience quickly with Corona SDK has helped the Major Magnet team stay agile,” says Elliot Wang, VP of Publishing at Iddiction. “We plan to launch Major Magnet to Android by Spring 2013 - this wouldn’t be possible without the cross-platform capabilities of Corona.”
