Tunnels Beach is the Best Snorkel Spot on Kauai
Fern Grotto Inn’s guest survey reveals popular beach has the best snorkeling on the island.
Kauai, Hawaii (PRWEB) June 30, 2013
Fern Grotto Inn, a collection of vacation rental cottages in Kapaa, Kauai, recently carried out a survey of its guests, asking them which part of the island is the best for snorkeling. Almost unanimously, the survey participants chose Tunnels Beach, located on Kauai’s North Shore.
“The snorkeling at Tunnels Beach really is second to none,” says Paul Juma, who owns and operates Fern Grotto Inn, “The cove has a shallow inner reef, which is perfect for novices and children. But if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can swim out further. Wherever you go, you’re sure to spot dozens upon dozens of tropical fish and even the occasional sea turtle.”
The surrounding area, which was featured in the 1958 film South Pacific, is equally gorgeous. Mount Makana, also known as “Bali Hai,” is Kauai’s most famous skyline, and its verdant slopes overlook Tunnels Beach, creating a postcard-like scene.
Tunnels Beach is half an hour away from Fern Grotto Inn, and guests are welcome to borrow an assortment of beach gear, including coolers, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and fins. A mask and snorkel can be rented locally at one of the many shops in Kapaa.
“Some guests prefer to stay closer to Kapaa,” Juma adds, “In that case, I usually recommend Lydgate State Park, which is only a few minutes away from my cottages. But if you want to see the most wildlife, nothing beats Tunnels Beach.”
Fern Grotto Inn, based in Kapaa, Hawaii, has six vacation rental cottages on the east side of Kauai. Fern Grotto Inn prides itself on providing luxury accommodations for guests who want an authentic Kauai experience.
