Open Source Ecology Announces Global Expansion Initiative
Open Source Ecology Has Announced Initiative to Expand Globally With Their “Global Village Construction Set” (GVCS)
Maysville, MO (PRWEB) July 29, 2014
Open Source Ecology is a 501(c)(3) group that seeks to empower millions of people around the world by creating all the machinery and systems required to build a society from the ground up, while putting the costs within reach of the common man. In most cases, OSE’s machines cost are about 20% of the similar machinery that is currently available off-shelf. Unlike the equipment available on the market today, the OSE machines are designed and built for a lifetime by using commonly available parts, which may also be produced onsite, using the GVCS fabrication machinery.
The Global Village Construction Set is a modular, DIY, low-cost, high-performance platform that allows for the easy fabrication of the 50 different Industrial machines that it takes to build a small, sustainable civilization with modern comforts. The company is developing open source industrial machines that can be made at a fraction of commercial costs, and sharing their designs online for free.
The current practical implementation of the GVCS is a life size LEGO set of powerful, self-replicating production tools for distributed production. The set includes fabrication and automated machines that make other machines. Through the GVCS, OSE intends to build not individual machines – but machine construction systems that can be used to build any machine whatsoever. Because new machines can be built from existing machines, the GVCS is intended to be a kernel for building infrastructures of modern civilization.
OSE was founded in 2003 by Dr. Marcin Jakubowski Ph.D. Since its inception, the company has grown into one of the premier open source hardware movements, replete with a committed support system which is growing larger every day. OSE is one of the first companies of its kind to apply the open source software model to hardware.
The company believes that by publishing and sharing all of its material, it will have several positive effects: Open source lets anyone and everyone contribute to the advancement of a concept, directing more brainpower to accelerate innovation on any specific challenge. When using this method, competitive waste is replaced with collaboration, which may lead to superior results. Open source also circumvents our inefficient distribution system. By providing online access to simple, easy to follow plans for DYI machinery that could be made locally, the need for shipping is greatly reduced.
OSE’s GVCS appeals to a wide range of groups, which include: farmers & landowners, manufacturers, construction companies, do it yourself enthusiasts, developers, people who are looking to reduce their living costs and ecological footprint, or people on a budget looking for solid equipment without the excessive markup. The GVCS is designed to be versatile, and is relevant to just about all areas of societal infrastructure.
As part of the company’s expansion initiative, OSE is seeking qualified individuals from all over the world to join their movement. The company is specifically seeking construction managers that can help expand their efforts worldwide, which will create more awareness for the GVCS and place within reach of anyone who wants to get involved. OSE is currently working with the greater open source community and creating strategic contacts that will further expand its operations. Please see http://bit.ly/1tetmux for more information.
OSE conducts many workshops throughout the year where people come from all over to learn the required skills to start their own GVCS enterprises. The company is seeking qualified leaders to run workshops at the OSE headquarters and at other locations. Please see http://bit.ly/1lHE2fw for more information on the workshops.
