Step 2 - Add New LUNs
Note - You may want Steps 1, 2 and 3
to be completed by a storage administrator, unless your that guy too!
1. Create Quorum LUN (usually 1GB in
size).
2. Create additional LUNs (LUN size if
not identical to the original LUN size should be able to accommodate the amount
of data that will be copied to it).
3. Present the LUNS to the ESX hosts of
the original clustered environment and new ESX hosts for the cloned VM's.
4. Login to VC Select the each ESX host
that the new LUNS were presented to and navigate to Configuration, Storage
Adapters, Select Rescan, and just select Scan for New Storage Devices.
5. Identify The SCSI LUN ID assigned to
all LUNs when it was created (Example: for fiber channel VHBA1:5:6 would be
SCSI ID 6. This ID should be identical on all Hosts).
For iSCSI (iSCSI Alias assigned will identify which SCSI
target was assigned to the RDM Example: iSCSI Alias brian-rdm-data-n configured
on VMHBA32:12:0 Target 12. The target number may NOT be identical on all hosts).
6. Document this information. It will
be used when adding the new RDMs.
Step 3 - Add the RDM Configuration
1. Within VC select Node 1.
2. Select, Edit Settings, Add Disk.
3. Select, Raw Device Mappings.
4. Using the information documented in the previous steps select the target
LUNs.
In this case, targets are 16 and 17.
5.
Chose to store the metadata files with the virtual Machine.
