Chelsio Delivers Traffic Management and Filtering with T3-based Unified Wire Adapters By VSM News Staff published: Monday, June 29 2009
SUNNYVALE, CA - June 29,
2009 - Chelsio Communications, Inc., the leading provider of
10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters and ASIC solutions, today announced it has
delivered complete traffic management (TM) and filtering capabilities for its
T3-based Unified Wire Adapters, enabling the efficient management of offloaded
traffic and filtering of received packets for a wide range of virtualized
application environments.
Chelsio's Unified Wire Adapters are now able to shape and pace offloaded TCP traffic per connection or
per arbitrary class and filter non-off-loaded (tunneled) received packets at
10Gb rate on the fly. The TM and filtering functions can be mixed
and matched in a wide variety of applications, including storage
virtualization, where traffic to each storage disk head must be
regulated. Other applications include firewalls, LFN, and video/IPTV, in
which video servers must be able to present predictable latency and bandwidth.
"The traffic management and
filtering at 10Gb solves a wide range of application problems for our
customers," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio
Communications. "Combining different traffic profiles onto a
converged fabric is a requirement for virtualized environments, making traffic
shaping essential for a wide range of applications."
Both the traffic management and
filtering can be mixed and matched, dependent on the application
requirements. TM and filtering are both available today as a licensable
option on top of the Chelsio S-series adapters.
