Preliminary Speakers and Conference Agenda, Featuring Keynote from Apollo 11 Astronaut Neil Armstrong
Framingham, MA – Oct. 31, 2007 – IDC, the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services and events, today announced the speakers confirmed to-date and a preliminary agenda for the IDC IT Forum & Expo, which will take place from June 4-5, 2008 at the Westin Waterfront Hotel in Boston, MA.
Now in its third year and growing, the conference has become a must attend event for IT and business executives interested in leveraging technology to enable and transform business models and processes. Unlike other industry events, the IDC IT Forum & Expo is content-driven, and sessions focus on end-user case studies from leading organizations that offer a glimpse into real-world solutions to the issues that IT and business executives face.
The pioneering spirit of early space explorers will be captured by Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, during a keynote address to attendees that will surely inspire them to make their own “giant leaps” in innovation, collaboration and technology.

In addition, there will be a separate, invitation-only IDC CIO Summit. Co-chaired by John Gantz, IDC’s Chief Research Officer , the IDC CIO Summit is a specialized two-day meeting that focuses on delivering high-level practical and strategic solutions to overcome the challenges faced by today’s CIOs. The Summit gives CIOs the opportunity to interact with and learn from each other. The IDC IT Forum & Expo will also offer an exhibit floor showcasing technology solution providers and a casino night themed opening reception. Attendees will also have the opportunity to schedule one-to-one meetings with IDC analysts at the conference. The conference is organized into four different tracks focused on applications, enterprise infrastructure, services and information management.
Track 1: Applications
The Applications Track will aid attendees in learning about software management techniques and offer insights into building security and reliability into software solutions to reduce risk and lower costs. Henry Morris, Group Vice President and General Manager, Integration, Development and Application Strategies for IDC will chair this track and lead a session, “Taking Stock: An Update on Software Megatrends.” Additional speakers include Dan Murphy , BI Group Manager with Cox Enterprises who will lead a presentation on, “Empowering Your Enterprise with Business Analytics.”
Track 2: Services
Chaired by Bob Welch, IDC’s Group Vice President and General Manager, Worldwide Research for Services, this track will offer perspectives for business and IT executives as they evaluate investments in services to support IT infrastructure. Sessions in this track include an overview of global sourcing, business-driven services oriented architecture (SOA) and a comparison of contract versus captive outsourcing.
Track 3: Enterprise Infrastructure
The sessions in the Enterprise Infrastructure track will provide IT professionals with the key information needed to implement a business-enabled IT infrastructure that meets the ever-evolving needs of the enterprise. Chaired by Michelle Bailey, IDC’s Research Vice President for Enterprise Platforms and Datacenter Trends, this track features sessions covering unified communications, virtualization, and aligning IT and business.
Track 4: Information Management
This track centers on the efficient management, storage and retrieval of data across the enterprise. IDC’s Vice President of Storage Systems, Rick Villars will serve as chair for this track. Topics to be covered include storage strategies for compliance, eDiscovery, content management and master data management.
