I think I’m not alone in saying that VMworld was exciting and over-the-top this year. I am still getting back into the swing of things after a week worth of early mornings and even later nights. The event featured more than 10,800 attendees and 147 sponsors and exhibitors this year, compared to 7,000 attendees and 82 sponsors and exhibitors last year.

If you missed the show here are some of the highlights:
  • VMware acquires Dunes Technologies to bring lifecycle management to their list of capabilities and solutions.
  • VMware announces ESX Server 3i, its next generation thin hypervisor to be integrated into server hardware.
  • VMware announces Site Recovery Manager, a new product for DR automation.
  • VMware announces VMworld Europe 2008 to be held in Palais des Festivals et des Congres in Cannes, France on February 26-28, 2008.
  • Xsigo comes out of stealth mode with a groundbreaking I/O virtualization solution.
  • Embotics launches V-Commander for virtual machine (VM) lifecycle management.
  • InovaWave introduces VirtualOctane for ESX Server designed to improve performance of ESX by up to 3 times and wins “Best of VMworld” in the new technology category.
  • Vizioncore dumps the “esx” prefix on their product names and replaces it with a “v” turning esxRanger into vRanger.
  • VMware chief scientist and co-founder Mendel Rosenblum talks about future products including VMotion for Storage, Streaming virtual machines and Fault-Tolerant virtual machines.

VSM provided daily coverage from VMworld in the form of short video interviews with a variety of the Exhibitors including Xsigo, InovaWave, Vizioncore, BlueLane, Stratus and many more. Check out the videos in our VMworld 2007 Coverage Center.
