As the VMworld Turns (T Minus 2 days) By Aaron Sweemer published: Tuesday, September 16 2008
Yesterday was a travel day, so the wife and I crawled in
to bed pretty early. As we did, we
briefly looked at each other, knowing what the other was thinking, "we're
such losers, we're in Vegas, what the heck are we doing going to bed at
10PM!" But our day started at 4AM
in Cincinnati (eastern time) and after a lengthly layover in Atlanta, sitting
next to a woman who clearly hadn't showered in weeks, an endless conversation
with a taxi cab driver who wanted to have a chat about conspiracy theories, and
dealing with a hotel that lost our reservation, I think we deserve a pass on
this one.
But today, so far so good.
I plan for a nice and relaxing Sunday.
The wife and I spent some time doing her favorite past
time, shopping. But I didn't mind, I got
to sit down and drink Vodka Tonics while she tried on sexy outfits ... happy
birthday to me! (which is September
22nd, for anyone that would like to give me a birthday gift, I request a
donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital). And later tonight we're off to see Love,
a Cirque Du Soleil tribute to The Beatles at the Mirage.
Tomorrow, on the other hand, is not going to be so
relaxing. I've already got my alarm set
for 4AM to make sure I can get up early enough to take care of any VMware
responsibilities and/or customer issues before my focus begins to switch to
VMworld. The official start of VMworld
is Tuesday, but Monday is partner day focused specifically on our partner
community. And while I don't have a ton
of VMware responsibilities tomorrow, as you can see by my calendar,
I do have a number of meetings and events throughout the day. And while you're looking at my calendar,
be sure to look for me and say "Hi!"
if you're going to be at any of the same events.
T Minus 2 days and counting! (Tomorrow, it's going to get crazy)
Update:

A
few pictures of Jami and I enjoying a cocktail before the show.
Love
was very good, though I'm not sure you'd enjoy it if you're not a Beatles
fan. And that might sound like a fairly
obvious statement. But really it's not. If you're going for a fantastic Cirque Du
Soleil performance, you'll be disappointed.
If you're going for good music and a mediocre Cirquie Du Soleil
performance, then you'll enjoy it just fine.
