Using the VMware VI Console, we created a virtual LAN infrastructure that included a VMkernel port for use by the VMware iSCSI initiator on each of our ESX servers. Hosted Windows and Linux VMs did not make direct iSCSI connections. Only the ESX server was authorized to connect with our VSA cluster. Those connections were virtualized as standard SCSI connections for the VMs.
